Where to buy spells in Oblivion Remastered

Where to buy spells in Oblivion Remastered

You need to buy spells if you want to become a powerful mage in Oblivion Remastered.

You can either cast the spells you get from merchants in Oblivion, or you can use them to make your own custom spells, which often cost less Magicka to cast than the regular variety.

There’s also another way to get spells if you have the ‘Spell Tomes’ DLC installed (included in the Remaster), which we’ve explained below, along with where to buy Spells in Oblivion.

Please note that this guide can be used for both the original release, and Remastered version of Oblivion.

How to get more spells in Oblivion

There are only two ways to get more spells in Oblivion:

  • Buy them
  • Find Spell Tomes (DLC – included in the Remaster)

We’ve got more information on these two methods below.

Where to buy spells in Oblivion

Almost every city has somewhere that you can purchase spells from. The best places to consistently buy lots of spells are Mage Guilds and the Arcane University in the Imperial City.

There are seven Mage Guilds in Oblivion:

  • Anvil
  • Bravil
  • Bruma
  • Cheydinhal
  • Chorrol
  • Leyawiin
  • Skingrad

Outside of the Mage’s Guild and university, some people inside chapels also sell spells, and you can also visit Edgar’s Discount Spells and the Mystic Emporium in the Market District of the Imperial City to find a few people selling them.

M’raaj-Dar in the Dark Brotherhood offers some spells too, as does the shop ‘A Warlock’s Luck’ in Bravil. You can also head to Dunbarrow Cove as part of the Thieves Den DLC (included in the Remaster) to find a few more people selling spells.

Just keep in mind that not every spell merchant has the same stock, as they usually favor one or two schools of magic over the others – especially at Mage Guilds.

How to find Spell Tomes in Oblivion

Spell Tomes are only available if you have the ‘Spell Tomes’ DLC installed (included in the Remaster). Instead of going to a certain place to find them, however, you only have a chance of discovering a Spell Tome in random loot (in place of a scroll).

So you’ll want to search places where scrolls drop more frequently, like dungeons with magic-users in them.
