All Chapter 1 Collectibles In Doom: The Dark Ages

Every chapter in DOOM The Dark Ages features many different collectibles for players to find and collect. Later in the game, you will find Gold, Demonic Essence, and other upgrade currencies and power-ups, but in the first chapter, collectibles DOOM The Dark Ages players can collect are limited to Life Sigils, Codex Entries, Toys, and a Weapon Skin.

Though it’s the first level of the game, players shouldn’t expect getting every collectible in Chapter 1 of DOOM The Dark Ages to be easy. This guide explains where to find all collectibles in the Village of Khalim chapter, including how to find all secret areas and all Life Sigil locations, both Codex Entries, both Toy locations, and the single Weapon Skin that players can unlock here.

Life Sigil #1 (Secret Area 1)

After acquiring the gauntlet and getting through the melee training section, go into a burning building, and you will see a climbable wall. Look to the left of this to find a wall that you can Shield Charge through – share through the wall and you will find the first Life Sigil immediately to your left.

Life Sigil #2 (Secret Area 2)

To get into this secret area, progress through the level until you find a purple seal on a locked Secret Key door just after a large combat arena. Walk past the locked door towards the mission objective, past a large monolith and another group of enemies, and you will see the Secret Key on a ledge above across a gap.

Use the Jump Pad to launch across, then defeat all the Demons in this separate area to open the seal on a door immediately to the left of the jump pad landing spot (and next to the Shredder weapon pod).

Enter this previously blocked-off area, and you will be sealed in as Demons spawn. Kill all the enemies to open a metal gate and get the second Life Sigil.

Life Sigil #3 (Secret Area 3)

In the same area where you found the second Life Sigil, return to the area you landed at with the Jump Pad, then follow the Armor and Ammo pickups that lead upward to the top of the ledge. Defeat the enemies that spawn up here, then follow the ledge path to get to the Secret Key location. Return to the Secret Key door to get the third Life Sigil.

Codex Entry #1: Doom Slayer

To get the first Codex Entry, head to the fenced-in Monolith-filled area behind the Secret Key door, then follow the path until you find a climbable wall behind a large rock formation. Continue along the path and continue to climb upwards to find the Doom Slayer codex on the top of this cliff overlooking the path below.

Codex Entry #2: Village of Khalim (Secret Area 6)

In the final part of the Chapter, you will jump down onto a beach filled with Demons. Defeat every enemy here, then progress through the level toward the End of Chapter node. You should see a line of Armor pickups that guide you to the next area from the beach.

Walk into this crevasse from the beach and look for a climbable wall to your right – the Village of Khalim codex entry can be found up here alongside two ammo pickups.

Where To Find Every Collectible Toy In Chapter 1

Secret Toy #1: Imp

After you complete the combat arena after jumping down the Point of No Return about halfway through Chapter 1, DOOM The Dark Ages players must find the Blue Key to progress – and unlock some secret areas.

Find the Blue Key, then return to this combat arena and look on your map for a path that leads downward. Walk through the archway and turn right, then open the locked Blue Key door to find the Imp toy secret.

Secret Toy #2: Soldier (Secret Area 4)

After finding the Secret Key door, head around the back and take the Jump Pad to another area located beneath the Secret Key location. After you close the portal, look off the side of the ledge behind the portal and you will see a ledge you can jump down to.

Carefully jump down and land on this ledge to find a secret cave with various pickups as well as the Soldier toy.

Nightmare Combat Shotgun Skin (Secret Area 5)

After you close the fourth Demonic Portal (and see a brief cutscene of a door opening), walk directly opposite the fourth Portal location to the edge of the cliff. Carefully jump down to a secret lower level here to find the third secret area.

Unlike the secret cave with the second Life Sigil, this Secret is surrounded by a barrier. Kill the Demons that spawn in the room to clear this barrier and collect the Nightmare skin for the Combat Shotgun.
